WELCOME SPRING

I have decided that I have a pretty serious psychological problem. I wonder if there is a name for it. The problem is:
I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO FINISH THINGS!

I've been ALMOST done cleaning my basement for four months now. I have oodles of quilt tops that are ALMOST finished. I began the chore of organizing my pantry a few weeks ago and ALMOST finished. The list is long of projects that are ALMOST finished. What is wrong with me?

Last month we purchased a Kirby vacuum cleaner, and I LOVE it!!!!! One of the features that sold us on it was the carpet cleaner. So, today I decided I was going to clean my carpets. But, guess what? I got a good start and then I took a break to check out Pinterest and my attention was drawn elsewhere.  I found three super cute spring door decorations, and I absolutely could not finish cleaning carpet!

Instead, I focused on the following project:

SUPPLIES:  (All purchased from Hobby Lobby)

*Paper Umbrella
*Flowers
*Cute Pinwheels
*Ribbon

They had a lot of different colors of umbrellas. Not sure why I chose pink. I'm generally not a pink person, but I like it!

SEE WHAT YOU THINK!

The best part was......it didn't take much time at all. I probably made it in 15 minutes, and that included distractions (because my brain is easily distracted). :)

There's always tomorrow to tackle the unfinished task of carpet cleaning......right?

A LOVE OF LACE

I have decided that one of the things that brings me the most joy is to be creative. I may not always be very good at it, but I usually find some kind of satisfaction in the process of using my mind, my imagination, and my hands to make something. Maybe it's an inherent quality that comes from a long line of women who demonstrated great skill in sewing, cooking, crocheting, gardening, and such. Or maybe it even comes from a higher power and it's my spirit wanting to follow the example of our creator....the master artist.

I am really going to try to do something creative every day. It might be something simple that will only take 15 minutes. It may be a larger project that will take a few hours, or even a day or more.

So here goes.........

TODAY'S CREATIVE PROJECT

I took two boring t-shirts that I've had hanging in my closet.

Then, I added a little lace

The finished product.

The heart was simple. Just cut a heart from some lace fabric or something else you have around the house. Tablecloths work great. I cut an old lace shirt. You will need some interfacing or pellon. Decide where you want your heart and position the interfacing/pellon behind the heart and on the inside of the shirt. Pin it good. Then, stitch around the heart.

The shirt with the strip of lace added down the front was super easy. I got the idea from this cute blog. I really love the lace she used, but I just used what I had at the house. I think the next time that I'm out and about, I will have to go lace shopping.

I made cinnamon rolls today, but that wasn't nearly as fun. I'll save that for another post. :)

CHARMED

I ran across these little gems quite sometime ago. I immediately ran right out and purchased the necessary items to create my own, but made the mistake of tucking all the supplies away....hoping that I would find time later to work on them. Then....I forgot.

The other day, while spending some time on a favorite blog of mine, I noticed a post there that provided a link to the tutorial. I was happy to be reminded of my intentions of making these lovely bookmarks.

What was I waiting for?! These only took minutes to make. I'm pretty happy with the results. I think they will make adorable little gifts for the bookworms in my life.
